Colour my Surroundings

I wore black and white to campus a couple of days ago. Me and my partner Ellen were given the task to go around the campus and take portrait images of each other- focusing on the colour of our clothes and our surroundings. These were the images I had collected:

As I was wearing black and white I wanted to focus on the contrast between the black of my top and the colours of the background which is why most of the colours in the background are bright and eye catching. The images above are unedited as we were told to pick one final image and edit that in approximately 10 minutes.

This was mine:

I really liked this image due to the leading lines and the vibrant orange colour of it. When editing this image I focused on brightening the colours but increasing the contrast between the black of my clothes and the background.

I think this image is really very successful because it captures the contrast between the colours in frame which was what I wanted to do from the beginning.

For the next task of the day we were asked to do the same again but this time to create 10 second videos. Me and Ellen took a few videos but my favourites are these two:

The first ones composition is very busy and it can be hard to focus on the change of images which is what makes it very engaging.

The last one has a humorous aspect to it which is why it is one of my favourites- there is a colour aspect too as the video is framed by a pinky colour of the stairs.
