go, Go, GO!

Jonathan 's lecture this morning was very helpful to me. It started off with a collaborative digital drawings which was so fun and kind of therapeutic. It was a great way to start off the day. This was the product:

After this we were put into breakout groups where we had to describe our fmp to people who haven't heard it before and then they had to draw what they thought it would look like. This was a really interesting activity as it got me thinking about how i describe my work and how I can get my point across more clearly. It was also fun to draw other people's ideas.

I was in a breakout group with Charlie Ellis and Juliette, here is what I drew when they described what they were producing:

This activity was very engaging and it was very interesting to learn and talk to other people about their ideas and where they want to take it.

After describing my idea here is what was produced:

I found it fascinating how these images turned out- they are both quite different even though I described my idea to them at the same time. Juliette's interpretation of my idea is a 3D model on the grid whereas Charlie's is a slightly deformed grid. This is intriguing and has given me more ideas on how I want to display and layout my typology. I could make it 3D and maybe movable, not just attached on a wall. Or I could make it slanted so it's not straight and which could make the viewers engage more with images. It has opened up many different opportunities and ideas which would be fun to try out!

Lastly, the group shared each others ideas on a jamboard where we each had a slide where people were able to leave sticky-notes on their opinions. Here's what was left on my slide:

Again, this activity was very useful to me as it's nice and helpful to get people's opinions on your work. This has helped me finalise the layout idea for the typology as people seemed to think that the line layout works well and is very effective.

I like the idea of nostalgia, and I think that the black and white images help with that atmosphere.

Another comment was that someone thought that the contrast in scale was good (to put into simple terms). I was pleased at this because that was what I was hoping to achieve when deciding on the scale of my images. this again has secured my idea of the multiple scale images.

I found it interesting that someone mentioned that I should interview the subjects which I have done but I didn't mention on the slide. It just shows that the interviews could round off this project and make it that bit more personal.

Overall this lecture has been very productive and constructive to my final major project idea and has helped to realise where I need to go next and how I want to do that.
