After completing the colour week it got me thinking about what I tend to focus on when taking images- texture. Before I really understood how colour could impact an image or art work I used to just base my images around textures as I find textures very eye catching and draws in the attention of the viewer.
I decided to explore the textures in my uni room as I had explored the colours. I did this because it allows me to focus on my surroundings in closer detail and -similarly to colour- I will be spotting these textures in daily life which will hopefully help me improve my work if I can harness texture and colour together.
These are the final images from all different objects in my room:
I took images of what was on my desk- some shells, crystals, paper, string, brushes and a blanket. I also began exploring the textures of the body. The textures of the skin, fingerprint, hair and my favourite- the eye. I am quite obsessed by the eye as they are the windows to the soul- if you look at my previous photoshoots the eye is almost always the focal point.
My favourite images I have taken are the images of the eye as it has a really interesting texture which you don't normally see when looking at them from a distance. This little project has also brought to my attention that one of my eyes is more green and the other is blue- but thats me going off topic.
I think that if I had the proper equipment this could be very strong photoshoot. For example, different lighting- it was difficult to get good lighting as I didn't have any lighting equipment, I just used natural lighting in my room. If I had better lighting some of these images would be very successful- this is something I can keep in mind for next time!
