That is the question.
While exploring the possibilities of the layout of the typologies I printed off the images in black and white to practice (and to save money!). I found that I quite liked the images in black and white but I also liked them in colour. I was in quite a predicament!
I printed the images off in colour and black and white and asked around the studio about which one is more successful and I had mixed reviews (which didn’t help!).
So I decided that I would lay out the images like a jigsaw puzzle in all the possible patterns I could use in the future to see what colours work best together.
Here are the outcomes from that:
This is quite difficult. I still can’t fully decide which one I like best!
I think I am edging towards the 5th and 6th image above- as the blue of the sky is very vibrant and eye catching and could create a very satisfying colour scheme. If the portraits were in black and white then there would be no other colours fighting for the spotlight- there would be no distractions from the blue. However, then the portraits could be discarded which is not what I want to happen as the portraits are meant to be the main section of these images.
The black and white circles (the last two images) could be successful however i'm not sure that it would create the best atmosphere for the homely and comforting mood i'm trying to achieve.
I have narrowed the options down to 4 possibilities- the black and white circle or coloured. I think I am more inclined to create the coloured circle and black and white line however, I will collect peoples opinions to see if I missed something or that I should push forward on the black and white option.
