To Drop... Sensually?

After completing a project relating to the verb "to drop" (explained on the Play Make Draw section of the website) me and my group were given an adjective which we had to relate to the project.

The adjective was Sensually.

We were stuck. We had a long think about how we could relate our project of splattered clay on a piece of paper to the adjective sensually. Eventually we had to look up the definition in the dictionary to see if that would give us any ideas. There was a few different definitions but this one stood out to us "of or relating to the senses or physical sensation; sensory." We starting to think about touch and how we could relate that to clay.

We reshaped the clay back into circular balls, as smooth as we could get them.

We then thought that the curved balls would be sensual enough but once we had done that we still felt that something was missing. So we had another brainstorm.

After a while of throwing around ideas we decided to play with the clay again. We all grabbed a ball and did what came to our head first, I squeezed it, Ellen punched it and Gloria dragged it. We did a few more of these actions- still leaving some of the balls in their shape as they still symbolise the sensual feeling.

The way we played with the clay created an even more sensual atmosphere as we left our mark on each of the clay balls- you could see where our hands had been.

Overall, I am really proud of this piece of work! (which is shown at the top) Me and my group worked really well and hard on making our work relate to different adjectives and verbs. We asked each other a lot of "What if's" (Jonathan would be happy) which allowed us to get to the finished product. For example, what if I held the ball like this? What if I used more force when throwing the clay down at the paper? What if there was an imprint of my ring in the clay?

These what if questions really helped us decided what we wanted to do and how we would do it with the clay pieces.
